Chief Executive Officer (CEO)- Vietnam
The Chief Executive Officer serves as the leader of the organization and acts as its primary public representative, reporting to the Board of Directors. The CEO works in partnership with the Board and directs the Management team to ensure that the organization fulfills its mission and to create strategies that ensure its future success. The CEO is responsible for leading the hospital's wide efforts to accelerate changes/improvements to achieve recognition of the hospital's excellence.
Major Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
Planning
• Collaborates with the Board to define and articulate the organization’s vision and to develop strategies for achieving that vision.
• Creates annual operating plans that support strategic direction set by the Board and correlate with annual operating budgets; submits annual plans to the Board for approval.
• Develops and monitors strategies for ensuring the long-term financial viability of the hospital.
• Develops future leadership within the hospital.
Management
• Oversees the operations of the hospital and manages its compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Creates and maintains procedures for implementing plans approved by the Board of Directors.
• Promotes a culture that reflects hospital values, encourages excellent performance, and rewards productivity.
• Hires, manages, and fires the human resources of the hospital according to authorized personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations.
• Ensures that staff and Board have sufficient, appropriate, and up-to-date information.
• Evaluates hospital and the staff performance on a regular basis.
• Coordinate and facilitate the integration of improvement efforts focused on patient experience and workplace of choice outcomes.
Financial Stewardship
• Oversees staff in developing annual budgets that support operating plans and submits budgets for Board approval.
• Prudently manages the organization's resources within budget guidelines according to
applicable laws and regulations.
• Ensures that staff practices all appropriate accounting procedures in compliance with
hospital and government regulations
• Provides prompt, thorough, and accurate information to keep the Board appropriately
informed of the organization’s financial position.
Fund Raising
• Develops fund raising strategies with the Board and supports the Board in fund raising
activities.
• Oversees staff in the development and implementation of fund-raising plans that support strategies adopted by the Board of Directors.
• Serves as a primary person in donor relationships.
Community Relationships
• Serves as the primary spokesperson and representative for the organization.
• Assures that the hospital and its mission, programs, and services are consistently
presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders.
• Actively advocates for the hospital, its beliefs, and its programmatic efforts.
• Acts as a liaison between the hospital and the community, building relationships with
peer organizations when appropriate.
Programmatic Effectiveness
• Oversees design, delivery, and quality of programs and services.
• Stays abreast of current trends related to hospital products and services and anticipates future trends likely to have an impact on its work.
• Collects and analyzes evaluation information that measures the success of hospital program efforts; refines or changes programs in response to that information.
Board Support and Leadership
• Serves as an ex-officio member of the organization’s Board of Directors and all Board
committees.
• Supports operations and administration of the Board by advising and informing Board
members and interfacing between Board and staff.
• Advises the Board in the development of policies and planning recommendations.
• Assists in the selection and evaluation of Board members and Board leadership. Makes recommendations and supports the Board during orientation and self-evaluation.
• Supports and participates in the Board's evaluation of the CEO.
Skills, Abilities and Educational Qualifications:
• Master’s level degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related
field.
• At least six (6) years of senior-level hospital management experience.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of management at the senior managerial level, including planning, budgeting, organizing, directing, motivating, controlling and decision making in the field of health care delivery.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of organizational behavior including employee relations, staff development and human resource management.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with physicians, staff, community members
and vendors.
• Proven experience in leading successful licensure, accreditation, and compliance efforts in a healthcare setting including Joint Commission International standards.
• Skilled in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgement, discretion and decision
making to achieve objectives.
• Experienced/skilled critical thinker who uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to opportunities or threats to success.
• Record of managing a team of professional staff, senior level managers including the
ability to lead, inspire and empower demonstrating confidence and executive presence.
• Thoroughness, independence and excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient usage of computer for communication, report writing, data tracking, etc.
• Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the hospital mission, vision, and values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
• Demonstrates good rapport and cooperative relationships.
• Identifies areas for improvement, offers solutions and participates in their resolution.
• Strives to exceed patient and family expectations within the context of a healing
environment and excellent patient experience.
• Maintains the confidentiality of information pertaining to patient, physicians, employees
and visitors to the hospital in accordance with hospital policy and government
regulations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
• Hospital language of record is English. Strong English verbal and written skills required.
